Just yesterday i answered to a wanted add.I sent off an email to the buyer telling him i had the item he was looking for.A number of emails were traded and he has decided he would like to go through with the transaction.
The gentleman is in France and from what i have observed comes across as genuine, but im not taking any risks as its close to 700 euro.Item will be shipped fully insured with ups.
We discussed payment methods but i am unsure as to which is the safest.
Paypal is possible,he said he can cover the fees of the seller and he has a confirmed paypal account. My only problem is the issue of a few threads i have read on various forums on charge backs and this freaks me out!
Bank Transfer is another option but is it safe to give out details like that?
Draft or cheque may be possible but would take a lot longer for buyer and seller.
Obviously both of us want a smooth transaction so whats recommended?

From my experience paypal is fine and I have had no issues with it whatso ever. In fact its the only method I use for any purchases on ebay.

The trouble with Paypal, from a sellers point of view, is that a buyer may be able to claim the item didn't turn up, or is broken, and so claim back money from the seller. With tracking info, there is some protection for the seller, though Paypal may simply decide that the buyer should return the item, then refund all the money.

The bigger problem though is that if the buyer uses a stolen Paypal identity. If this happens, and you send the item through, then when the real account holder notices what's happened, the money will be taken back from you and given to them. There's pretty much no protection for a seller in this case.

If the account is verified, and the address is confirmed, then that's as near to protected as you'll get.

IBAN bank transfer is a good option. There's no way for the buyer to claim back money unless you refund him. It's also fairly quick (3-5 days clearance I think) and there are no fees involved (or maybe a few euro for the sender).

    Excellent mate thanks for that.

From a seller point of view, bank transfer is the safest and most logical option

From a buyers point of view, paypal is the option I would go for
