I am thinking of going into the career of occupational therapy. Are there any occupational therapists on here that can give me an insight into your jobs? Do you like what you do and do you find it rewarding? What are the pros/cons? What are the typical working hours per week - do you get weekends off?
    Thanks in advance

Thanks for the link..but i have already researched everything there really is to know about OT. I would just like to hear first hand from someone who is currently working as an OT in ireland as i am interested in what the conditions/climate is like for the profession.
Any OT's out there at all?

You might want to contact AOTI.

Im an OT..hours are 35 a week..pay is starting off as a new graduate at 38k..no weekend work is a nine to five jobs although there's flexi time in hospitals/ job sharing.

Pros and cons- decent starting salary but there's a ceiling to how much you earn at the top end.
rewarding work, not glamerous..tough..fustrating at times and not everyone's cup of tea..my suggestion is that you do a a few days experience in somewhere like the NRH before considering it.

    Hi,

I'm also considering going into OT, can anyone advise as to whether Private Practice work is a growing area for Occupational Therapists in Ireland? Is it possible to work solely in the area of private practice or would a lot of these OT's be working part-time in the HSE?
