I've been out of the console loop since the SNES and I'm looking for a good game to make the most of me new Wii purchase. All I know is PC games and I'm finding the price of console games a real shock.

I was looking at Mario but it's up on €80 online! Although Zhivago's where I bought the Wii had the remote for €49 where this online shop was selling it for €58 so maybe online isn't the best place to look, what are people paying for Wii games? I do remember hating Mario on the SNES and almost trowing the SNES out the window a few times in frustration due to things like having to get a jump timed just right to avoid falling down a hole.

I tend to play FPS on the PC but I don't see how these would work on a console even the Wii remote couldn't be a match for the mouse and keyboard when it comes to these games and the step down in graphics would probably ruin the experience for me.

I'm looking for something fun and maybe mentally taxing.

Mario Galaxy should only be €50 in most shops.

It really is very good and the difficultly has definitely been toned down from previous Mario games.

Wii Play has a Wii Mote free with it... Should cost you 44.99 or 49.99.. although the game is pretty small and very limited playability. <3 the bubble game though.

    Brain Training costs only 29.99.

You can also find a few of the driving games are 29.99 with the steering wheel included. (new)

and also... I'm pretty sure Links Crossbow Training which is only out recently, is about 29.99 also.. and includes the gun thing to put your controller into.

If you're talking about the Bubble Game... it is :) I'm undefeated, but mostly because the people I know will not play me... I wish there was a co-op game as well as a versus.. That way I could play with my friends and not make them feel bad :/

Haven't tried that one, but I played a lot of the FPS games on the Wii and didn't really like them... They really are not the same as Quake 4 or Halo 3 on the Xbox 360.

Metroid Prime is pretty good on the Wii though... and also Red Steel is not bad...

"Portal" on Xbox360 pwns all FPS... and technically you're not really shooting.. (ish)

The Metroid Prime games are not really FPS, sure they look like them. They're more like an action/adventure/platform/puzzler from the first person perspective.

Mario is great fun, I don't know what's up with those online prices you saw but it's much cheaper in stores. You could probably get it on Ebay or Adverts.ie too.

Get Resident Evil 4 Wii edition. I'll admit I'm biased, but it's one of the best games of the last few years and the Wii version is excellent.

That's feckin class! It's about time VR made a come back they've been pussy footing around it for ages and I think it's ready.

The sites I was looking at was cd-wow.ie and play.com, I think there might have been something wrong with the sites when I was looking last night some games where listed at €1000, used! marios still over €60.

Red steel is the one with a bit of sword play isn't it? Sounds like a good wii game.

Sounds like, but isn't, unfortunately. Worth trying, but not worth buying.

Cd-wow and play.com are definitely more expensive than the shops. I checked smyths website (reserve only not buy) and the prices are up to €20 cheaper.

i did not like redsteel at all, it just annoyed me. imo t wasnt really a game more so then it was just a way to get use to the wiimote and the motion controls for other games, i mean come on the whole start with the "ooh look at that fish" was head wreckin!

I recommend Red Steel. Really enjoyed it once I got immersed in the controls (which does take awhile.) Graphics are PS2 at best but there is plenty of fun to be had if you give it the time it takes to master. Metroid Prime is a big Thumbs up as is RE:4

I went to Tescos last night for a look they had a poor selection so I picked Rayman 2 using my last €50 to buy it. It's the greatest load of horse vomit I've ever come across. One game has you unblocking toilets! I could see how it would be good craic at a party due to the daftness of the games and the motions you have to go through to completet the game but I only have one remote so that's a no go.

Most games where around the €49 mark.

Big time - I really wish Nintendo hadn't gone and bollixed up the Virtual Boy by making it portable (wtf kind of freak is going to wear that thing on their face on the train/bus?? (oh yeah, crazy Japanese people)). Now that powerful hardware is available for cheap, I hope someone takes the incentive and makes it work.

It's essentially the GC version with Wiimote controls, and the extras from the PS2 version. Well worth getting, it's a keeper :)

You can pick it up for €45 in Argos. Get Excite Truck while you are there as it's only €25.

Picked up Mario galaxy for €45 in xtravision. Brand new copy, that's the cheapest I've seen it for.

Not really my cup of tea but I seem to be fairly addicted to it all the same.
