Pixmania - Bad experience

    Anyone here used Pixmania much?

I placed an order on 29 Dec & received an email on 4 Jan to say it was dispatched. The online tracking was giving me a strange message that I couldn't understand so I rang Parcelforce today (08 Jan) and they told me that they have not recieved the parcel from Pixmania. So I rang Pixmania and they told me that they don't have it & that it was dispatched on 4th. They insist that there is nothing wrong with the order, haven't apologised for the delay and have told me not to bother with the tracking system as it is only updated once the parcel has been delivered (i.e. when I have the package?!?)

I would cancel the order & buy from someone else, but they debited my card immediately when I placed the order & I'm not too confident of getting a refund any time soon.

The item was in stock & was on a 4-5 day delivery - so if I calculate the bank holidays, weekends etc. it should have arrived towards the end of week last week. I wouldn't mind if I got some sort of explanation, but they just made me feel like I was causing trouble.

I still don't know where the camera is or when I will get delivery. Anyone have similar experiences?

I've placed about five or six orders with them and nothing has gone awry, but there have been numerous complaints about them on here.

Basically they are excellent until something goes wrong, then they are a nightmare.

Thats sh1tty.Anytime you are using a shop google reviews of them , i guess its like feedback on ebay.Pixmania doesn't seem to have too good of a reputation.

Had a rally bad time with them, first and last time using them.

I should have read reviews before I bought. I presumed that because they were so well known they would be fine to deal with. I have just looked them up & am dreading what is ahead of me...

    Nail on the head.

Nobody accepts fault when a parcel goes awry.

Well, if the item was only dispatched on the fourth, and today is only the eight, thats only really three working days. Where is it coming from? Three days is not really enough to presume something has gone wrong yet. If its coming from outside the country then its feasible that Pixmania don't have it and it is with the carrier. Have ordered loads of stuff from them and never had any problems. Although the delivery def seemed to take a little longer than I'd have expected. Thats just my experience with them though.

That does seems to be the general view of pixmania.
Tho I've always found amazon great when packages are late or missing.

Its a shame they stopped shipping electronics here.

We ordered a couple of things from them. One arrived no problem.
The other one took over 2 weeks and was in stock when it was ordered.
They were useless at trying to trace the item, it did eventually arrive and in the end the delivery charge was refunded.

That's what I was thinking. I'd wait til early next week before starting to worry, tbh.

Had a bad experience with them about 2 years ago and wouldn't ever buy from them again.
However, I do think that it might just be a delay with the package in this case.
I would recommend opening the package and checking that it is the correct item , if possible, before signing for it (if and when it does arrive).

I have never dealt with Pixmania, however parcelforce are the worst. The tracking number might as well be a barcode on a banana. A few of my suppliers used to use them last year they can take their time delivering but it always arrived.

Before Christmas I did do the website review reading and various places suggested that they had been poor but of recent times there were no problems. On that basis i ordered a SatNav a a Sunday and it arrived by the following Wednesday. Can't fault them at all TBH. But my interaction didn't involve any customer care interaction. I suppose the thing to do will be to get the name of someone at pixmania and sit on them.

It was ordered on the 29th with a 4-5 day delivery, I'm not really giving out about the length of time for the delivery to arrive (after all it is post christmas/new year), I'm more concerned that there is a delay & they don't seem to give a ****, they don't know how to locate the package & have fobbed me off when I contacted them to enquire...

I order quite a bit online & am used to having traceability. I'd be happy to wait if they gave me some confidence...

I have an order placed with dabs at the moment also - their site indicated that the item was in stock when I placed the order. But the following day I got an email to tell me that the item was in fact out of stock, they re-estimated the delivery date & have not yet debited my card. So I am happy to wait for them to get the stock in - I'm confident in the way they have handled the situation, I haven't had to email or phone them & know that if I need to at any stage I can cancel the order without having to claim a refund...

Pixmania just cause me worry - what they should have done today was to apologise for the delay, let me know that the order would be received within a certain time frame and send me on my merry way, but my phone conversation today panicked me...

got my last 2 cameras from them and a couple of bits and bobs in the mean time the parcel tracking worked on all those occasions did you use your credit card? sic the cc company on them. I don't think it ever arrived when they said it would. give it another day and see what happens.

Just to clarify, Parcelforce do not have the package & according to Pixmania, neither do they. Pix... say the package was sent on Friday, but Parcelforce say they have never recieved it...

I don't mind waiting for it, but am astonished by the poor customer service.

    Blue,
I've been throught the same with an item I paid for on the 3rd December. Package never made it to me by 13th December. Contacted pixmania and was told it would take 10 days to investigate. I contacted them on 23rd and requested a refund. They said they would process it, but it took several phone calls to actually get the refund, which I eventually got yesterday.

The way I see it with Pixmania, if you want to get something at a low price and don't mind waiting *if* something goes wrong then shop with pixmania.

I presume you used credit card when purchasing the item? If so, then there is absolutely nothing to worry about - only delay. If after 30 days you have not received the order from the date you placed it then you can backcharge instantly - the onus of proof will be put on pixmania.

If you didn't use credit card then firstly you should always use credit card when purchasing online and secondly - good luck!

I would definitely wait until next week before worrying as Parcelforce wouldn't even know if there was air around them. They are useless.

I ordered a 750gb hard drive and a lowepro 200aw camera bag from them at the weekend, it arrived this morning. I've used them loads of times for gear for my pc/camera and getting photo's printed, never had an issue.

one thing to remeber about there customer service they are owned by DSGi, the parent company of Dixons, Currys and PcWorld.

I think that might explain their lack of people skills, saying that thogh i've ordered a mobile phone, camera and portable DVD player from with litttle or no complaints

okay, camera has arrived & I'm happy with it & it came in reasonable(ish) time. But I still can't get over the phone conversation I had with them...

    Thanks for all the feedback.

I got an email from them to explain that they had dispatch problems and that they'd send it soon. I got a second email from them today to say it had been sent. so fingers crossed I should have it next wednesday or thursday.

    Yeah. That sounds familiar.

Ordered a mediaplayer on 16th Dec. They gave the wrong tracking number; a week later they asked for confirmation that it was paid via Paypal; a week later I got a tracking number, that tracked nothing; another week and they said Parcelforce had a problem but it'd arrive Wednesday Jan 23rd. It didn't and hasn't yet (6th Feb).

I've opened a dispute which (hopefully) will stir some action....but I doubt it.
