I've started a discussion with mates about if a photograph edited/retouched/post-processed with photoshop or any other tool still is a photograph or mutates to a different "art" form

I know this is only word's play but I'd like to have more arguments in one way or the other (not sure myself)

Photoshop etc is just processing, unless you alter the image beyond what it was.

The very same way that chemicals are used to process negatives in to prints.

There are global adjustments that you can do such as B&W, curves etc and then there are localised adjustments where you stick his face on her body. This adds new information to the scene that was not there. Really the removal of information is beyond standard processing.

With RAW files you essentially get a hyperspace of potential photos that can come from the sensor data. The settigns that can be applied to a RAW file are essentially arbitrary and as such such modifications are really just like viewing a building form a different angle. Its still the same structure.
