canal digital problem

    Hi guys,

Am in need of your expertise. I'm in the midlands and have a canal digital subscription to a scandinavian package and a 1.1m fixed dish with a universal single lnb.

From looking at Lyngsat, all of the channels that are in my package seem to be on Thor 2 and Thor 3. I am able to get some of the channels I have subscribed to but the problem is that lots of the ones I should have are missing.

From what I understand, I won't be able to get any of the channels on Thor 3 because Ireland is too far west , but I think most of the ones in my package are on Thor 2. I've looked at the Lyngsat site and my missing channels are found generally on 11293 and 11357 on Thor 2. I can get channels on 11278 and 11403.

What i don't understand is how i can get some of the channels on Thor 2 and not others? If I am pointing at the right satellite then I would have thought I should get everything that my card can decode. Or maybe I don't have a correct understanding of how it works? The problem seems to be that the missing channels are not even being detected when I do a search for all available channels. The satellite decoder shows that it is trying to find channels at those frequencies (11293 and 11357) but quickly moves on saying there are no channels found there. Is it possible that my dish is slightly misaligned? I will hopefully have someone looking into it for me professionally as soon as I can track him down but I would be grateful for any advice that anyone here could offer.

    The channels I get are:
DR1, DR2, DR UPDATE, KANAL 5, HALLMARK, VH1, CNBC EUROPE, TV2CHARLIE, TV2FILM, CARTOON NETWORK, NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC, CANAL SPORT 1, CANAL FIRST, CANAL DRAMA, CANAL HITS, CANAL COMEDY, JETIX

The ones that are missing are:
CANAL ACTION, CANAL SPORT EXTRA, CANAL SPORT 2, DISCOVERY, ANIMAL PLANET, HISTORY CHANNEL, TRAVEL CHANNEL, EUROSPORT, EUROSPORT 2, DISNEY, NICKELODEON, CNN, SKY NEWS, ALJAZEERA, BBC WORLD, BLOOMBERG, THE VOICE, MTV, VH1 CLASSIC, MUSIC CHOICE, SILVER, TCM, BBC PRIME, SHOWTIME, STAR, BBC FOOD, TRAVEL AND LIVING, DISCOVERY SCIENCE, DISCOVERY CIVILISATION

    Any thoughts?

it looks like your dish is just about big enough to get the vertical transponders (11278 and 11403) but not the horizontal ones (11293 and 11357). the dish sizes shown in lyncsat are approximate and for the midlands it shows 90-120cm dish. to be sure of quality reception in all weather you would probably need 150cm minimum. on good days with no rain and a bit of realignment you might be able to get the full package but it probably wont be 100% unbroken pictures. maybe try adjusting the scew on the lnb a bit, this has produced marginal better results for me in dublin on 26e but a bigger dish will give the best results.

Thanks a mill for the responses. I didn't realise that vertical and horizontal transponders could differ in that way!

Anyone know where I could get a 2m dish (and someone to install it) in the midlands?
