The DE UMP comes with an 8.4v stick battery that fits inside the body but its ROF is much much better with an 9.6v battery. The 9.6v battery is one cell longer so dodnt fit neatly in the body and the stock cannt be closed over. Reason it wont close is the battery cover plate cannt close over and blocks the stock from closing.

There is space in the stock where it closes over the battery compartment. So I stripped it appart and found that the battery cover picec comes out easily. I tapped oput the pin that hinges the batter cover plate easily enouhg and replaced the unit minus the cover plate. Now the 9.6v battery will clide in the the body and protudes very slightly. Luckily the space in the stock is in such a way as to allow the stock to clse over the end of the battery. Battery is firmly in place so you can use it stock folded or closed easily. Definitly worth it for the higher ROF.

Its very handy, did it in 5 mins with nothing more then a leatherman (to push out the pin enough to grip it with plyers). You do have to be a little carefull when clsoing the stock it can catch the wires a bit. Some insulation tape my fix that problem. Ill snap some tomorrow, too tiered now :D

    Looks good,

where did you get the heat shrink for a stick battery?

The black on the end of it is heat shrink I assume, or is it insulation tape?

Its a combination of both. Came with heat shrink and I added some tape.

Q: what happens when you fold the stock???

Fold it to the side to shorten the AEG? Nothting the battery wont go anywhere. There a tight fit as is and the conection to the gearbox is failry short so that holds it even if it did move. If you wanted you could wrap a few layers of electical tape and that would really cause it to wedge in there.
