Hi there hope somebody can help?

A friend of mine has been on sick benifit since Oct previously to this was getting the dole.

Last wednesday there was no payment for him. When he rang to find out why as he had handed in his sick cert., he was told that he got a double week on the 8th Dec(this was the week that everybody else on SW got xmas bonus) and this was to cover last weeks payment. When he got the double week he assumed it was his bonus wasn't advisec otherwise.

This sounds a bit odd to me And I think he should have been advised of this. The poor man was left without a penny for a full week as wasn't expecting it. Anyone know anything about this procedure ie is this the norm?

Nope, he got paid double as the offices would be closed over Christmas.

He doesn't get a bonus and should never have assumed he would.
You should note that Jobseeker’s Benefit and Illness Benefit are not considered long-term payments so if you are getting either payment, you don't qualify for the Bonus.

He'll just have to last until payment date this week. He's not entitled to anything more from December 07 so no point going looking for another weeks welfare payment

    Hope that helps!
