Been around the net looking for a way to make my 8 hour old DVD player region free.
Havent found anything specific for this model but have noticed that if I go 0009>OK
I get a page which displays what I presume is software version, etc. At the bottom of this page is a little box with the digit "2" which is I presume my region code. Now I can change this to any digit from 1 up to 6, did this and set it to 6 not knowing there was a region 6.

Tried it and it would not play my region 2 DVD saying it was wrong region. Was able to change it back to 2 and it plays normaly again.

So I presume if I do come across DVD's other than region 2, I can change this on a one off basis.

Can you change it to region '0', that would probably make it region free, if not theres possibly a hack out there...

Just tried that and was able to change to "0". the setting has held and am still able to play my region 2 DVD's.

Now I don't have have any other region DVD's around at the moment, so can't test it. Does seem almost too easy, :D compared to some of the convoluted  methods I've come across on various forums for achieving "Region Free" status.

You should be able to play Region 1, 2, 3, 4 etc... discs in your player now, although there is a rarely used (I only have it in LA Confidential) a thing called RCE (Region Code Enhancement), basicly it checks the player and forces check of the region, it wont allow region '0' for playback, there are very few discs though, region 0 method I mentioned should work for most, some other dvd players may require the firmware of the device to be modifyed to make it region free, not all players have a secret menu, maybe thats the technical ones you came accross...
