January Sales, me @#$€

Was in the Blanchardstown centre today.

I went into Border,Easons,GAME,HMV and Virgin. These places are supposed to have January sales on at the minute but I could not find anything that was any cheaper than it was before Christmas and some things were more expensive than they were before Christmas.

Have I just been unlucky when it comes to spotting bargains or has anyone else noticed these non sale sales.

In relation to HMV and Virgin they had their various 3 DVDs for €30 or 5 for €50 but they have those all the time. Season two of House which is selling for about €26 online was being sold for between €30 and €70.

My advice - shop online and avoid regular shops like the plague, you will only be ripped off. At that rate even Play.com's unfair euro charges still work out cheaper compared to Irish shops.

Sorry if this is in the wrong section.

There's another 'January Sales Are Muck' type thread i can merge it with...

    .. meh, can't find it!

Will move it to 'Online Buying & Auctions' since the post seems to be hinting at advantages of buying online.

Honestly, the whole Christmas/January sales are only relevant to those who can't use the internet.

My cousin bought a camera for Christmas for 499. I saw it in the January sales with a "huge discount" of 20 euro-now only 479!

Found it online 2 hours later at 339.
