There's going to be a public meeting in Maynooth this month to assess interest in setting up an ET school in the area. This is one of the proposed schools announced last November.

If there's any interest here I'll post full details when I receive them.

NB - I'm not affiliated with ET. I'm just a parent who contacted them to inquire about the proposed Maynooth school.

There was a meeting this evening with some interested parents about organising a public meeting for the school set up in Maynooth. Bit of time pressure as the formal application has to be in by the 31st to the New School Advisory Board. The public meeting and pre-enrollment has been set provisionally for the 26th - venue to be decided but hopefully either in NUIM or in the Maynooth GAA club.

    Public Meeting - 26th Jan - 11am - 12 noon.
    Pre-enrollment: 12 - 2pm.

This is provisional and mainly depends on a venue being available.

There's another organising meeting on the 17th at 7:30pm in the Roost. Everyone welcome. This meeting will be mainly about leafletting and sticking up posters to advertise the public meeting.

Feel free to post here or PM me if you want any more details - but that's pretty much all I have at the moment. I'll keep this thread updated with info as I get it.

The public meeting is going ahead. It's on the 26th January in Room CS1 (Computer Science Building Lecture Theatre 1), Callan Buildings, North Campus, NUI Maynooth.

    Public Meeting - 11am - 12 noon
    Pre-enrollment - 12 noon - 2pm

The full press release from Educate Together is available here.

I haven't got a soft copy of the leaflet and poster yet but I'll post links to them as soon as I do.

    Final update on this.
Meeting is on Saturday in CS1 with pre-enrollment straight afterwards. Emmet Stagg and Bernard Durkan are sending representatives and I believe Cllr. McGinley will be there too. All of Maynooth has been leafleted to advertise it. If anyone reading this thread is interested (I know there's been no responses so far :D re: the meeting) as of tonight I'm the pre-enrollment officer. So feel free to direct any queries to me via pm or else I hope to see you there :)

Successful public meeting. About 40 people attended the meeting but others just came to pre-enrol their children and left. A number of boardies were there which shows the power of this site :)

We got 57 pre-enrolled today and others took forms for friends which I'll be hoping to get back over the next few days. The years that got the most pre-enrolments are 2010 and 2011 which is great as it demonstrates future viability - necessary to gain sanction for the school.

We got some news regarding the site for the school too. According to Emmet Stagg it's going to be at Railpark on the Celbridge Road. Deputy Stagg's representative at the meeting confirmed this.
A lease in respect of 3 acres of land has been agreed with a local landowner stated Deputy Stagg and the intention is to provide an 8 Classroom Temporary School on these lands by September 2008, subject to Planning Permission.
Full statement from Deputy Stagg: http://www.labour.ie/emmetstagg/news/1201192160898608.html

So the application will be going in on Wednesday and then it's wait and see time. We are hopeful that it will get the go ahead as no other organisation has declared an interest and the Department has made provisions for land and a building already.

Once sanction is granted the real work begins for those of us in the organising group. I'll keep people posted on this thread with any information, including status of application, and fundraising events, etc.

[edit]Forgot to mention this. Pre-enrolment is now officially open. If anyone who reads this wants a pre-enrolment form send me a PM with your name, address and how many children you want to pre-enrol. I don't have a soft-copy yet but I should have one on Monday and I'll post a link to it which you can print out and send back to me at the address on the form.

    [edit2]Pre-enrolment form is available here
