    Hi,
I'm thinking very strongly about buying a pair of boots having had one to many nightmares with rentals. Just wondering how much hassle it is to have to lug boots, aswell as all the other bits, on to a plane etc.

    Anyone any experience/advice?!

My mate got a boot bag for about a tenner in Lidl and uses that as his carry on luggage. There's plenty of room in the bag to stick in books or mags or PSP or whatever you usually bring onto a plane...

I stick them into my board bag and send them on that way but obviously you don't have a board bag.

I bought a bag with my boots a couple of years ago. For the first couple of times I used it as my hand luggage back as there was plenty of room in the bag for passport, mags, bottle of water etc as well as the boots. It was a little cumbersome, but I was more worried about my boots being damaged if I put them through as standard luggage.

But last year, I just checked them in as normal in their bag and there was no problem. The bag is great for them, but it's great not having to carry it around if you don't need to!:o

As mentioned bring them on as hand luggage or just stick them in your suitcase, the only thing to be aware of is they weight a few pounds.

i have a daysack (rucksack) that just fits my boots, one in the bottom and the second upside down on top. The advantage over bootbags is that it can then be carried on your back. I also use it on the slopes then as a day sack, and I also like the fact that I can put a pair of lightweight walking shoes on in the morning, grab my skis (or rather skiboards this year) and then put the boots on at the top of the mountain (if its a funicular or gondala) The shoes then either go in the bag if I'm not going back to that lift station or in a locker at the lift station to collect at the end of the day.

Saves a whole lot of energy (and slippage!) on the ski bus, gets you in the Q faster than the others, and it is fantastic to get your boots off once you finished skiing and are having the first beer rather than schlepping back to the hotel first to get your boots off. I also like to get the boots off over lunch :) and trust me my boots fit like a glove!

Don't worry about carry on for the plane, my bag + boots = 5kg well under weight limits.

Look out for the rectangular shape of daysack, and not the teardrop. Mines a Quicksilver bag so probably had snowboard boots in mind.:)
