vtec, I find that if people ask this question then they're probably at the Improver Level. The really important question is then "Is your camera capable of the Improver Level?" in other other words does your camera have Aperture Priority and Shutter Priority controls?

I use a D80 so its fully manual. I fully understand pretty much everything on the camera from shutter speed to ISO, aperture etc. I think its more or less just experience i need and its handy to parasite on other photographers for tips.,:)
Will hopefully get to the IFSC meet.,

Great shot. I saw that on Flikcr when I did a search for Cork Town Hall. This is the kind of shot that I hope people will be able to get,

Not a bad night. The conditions were just right for night photography.

Got a few shots I'm happy with but haven't processed any yet.

Sorry I missed it. Dying with flu this weekend so no chance for me to go down. Looking forward to seeing some images,

Took a while, waiting for the moon to move over. Happy enough with the shots. Didn't take all that many really, but it was different.

here are a few of mine..first time ever shooting with a tripod...think ive got lots to learn. Getting the focus right was difficult, as was avoiding getting in the shot of the tens of other participants :)

    similar pic to pauls

Some good results there. It's unlucky the lights weren't on for you in the Ulster Bank in your second shot PaulW, it would have really made the image pop!

I like the abstract of the bridge too tadhgrrr. I think it could look good as a mono too.

    Looking forward to seeing more.

I agree it wasnt a bad night at all learnt quite a bit. Some of my efforts.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,381 ✭✭✭✭Paulw

Some nice images. I think your WB is a little off for your Customs House shot. It looks a bit too orange.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,424 ✭✭✭bernard0368

Thanks Paul, I was using tungsten, but these are straight of the camera I haven't looked at them properly on the computer at home. Left there and went straight to Belfast.

While tungsten is normally the right setting, sometimes flourescent can give a nicer (cooler) effect. Never hurts to experiment.

    Just my view, of course.
