    Hi,

I did a fork rebuild last Saturday (first major thing that I did myself ;) to wash all the parts I used Kerosene but I found it a little bit too smelly and it evaporates too slowly. Do any of you know where to find something called
"Coleman Fuel" or "White Gas"? I am from Poland where it is much easier to find, it doesn't have such a strong smell as Kerosene and it evaporates much quicker. I was also looking for very fine sand paper 1000 - 2000. Any ideas?

    Regards,
    zarafiq

Try a motor factors that supply paint etc , they would have solvents/cleaning fluid and fine paper.

If you can't make it to one , B&Q might have something that would do.

Yes, any camping shop will have it, it is used in camping stoves. But basically it's petrol. The only difference between it and ordinary petrol is that it burns with less smoke and smell. But it is just as dangerous (explosive) as petrol. Cleaning parts produces a lot of vapour (you do want it to evaporate, after all) and in any enclosed space this is very dangerous. Best to do it outdoors and of course away from any possible sources of ignition.

White spirit is non-flammable, but can still be bad for your health in a confined space, and evaporates quite slowly.

In Cavan there was a great fire / Judge McCarthy was sent to inquire / It would be a shame / If the nuns were to blame / So it had to be caused by a wire.

I've used it before, so I know that I have to be careful and use it in a properly ventilated place. Thanks a lot!

I thought White Spirit was flamable. At least it was when I used it by mistake to light the barbeque, thinking it was lighter fluid.....
