American Tv......

Between watching Fox News, the NFL coverage on Sky Sports (the CBS,FOX,NFL Network or NBC commentary) and various online American TV videos. One thing that stands out to me in comparison with UK/Irish TV coverage, is the American's mention rival Stations/Networks a lot more than we do.
Couple of examples here, when NFL Total Access (NFL Network) shows the upcoming days games, they let it known what station their on as well be they on Fox, NBC or CBS. You wouldn't catch Sky telling you what games are on Setanta (and vice versa) when their going through the list of games on a Saturday.
Also they show clips on Fox News of other stations programmes, i.e showing Letterman and Leno clips.(i know they're back after awhile, but even before that).
Another is Olbermann and O Reilly, Olbermann is constantly showing clips of O Reilly's show, they are in direct competition and i couldn't see Bill O agreeing to these clips been shown.:D
What I'm curious about is it easier show other stations clips in America (more relaxed copyright laws) or is there a gentleman's agreement between the Networks, i.e. we'll let you show our clips if you let us show yours?
Such a thing to be bothering me of a Sunday night..

Yeah it makes sence to let people know where they can see a sporting event when you are talking about it.

Radio does this quiet alot, I think I have heard RTE Radio letting their listners know that they can see a match on TV3 or Sky or Setanta or TG4.

I know that Today FM will always let people know where they can see live coverage.

It strange to think that TV3 and RTE will both talk about the soaps regardless of who is showing them, yet they won't mention where you can see live sporting events if they aren't on there service.

Sure Sky do not show the 5:15 Setanta EPL game in its highlight section on a Saturday night.

Does it mention that it was on Setanta other then a small banner stating "Courtesy of Setanta Sports"?

So then they are really trying to avoid any mention of their main competitor.
