Just dug this out of the pile and fired it up. Dam it looks pixely! was it always that bad, or is the emulation of the ps3 making it look worse? anyone else try it?

Did you turn on the PS2 scaler and smoothing options in the PS3 Cross Media Bar?

wasnt designed to be played on a ps3, thats probably the reason

dug it out too...did you find, by the way, that the buttons on the wireless controller don't appear as responsive...the stupid 'dance' mini-games are v tough. even with controller plugged into machine?

In my experience the smoothing option makes games look worse.
I only have upscale set to full screen and all my PS1 and PS2 games look as good and in some cases better than on their original console.
Also haven't noticed any response issues with the pad on this or any other game.

    Righhhhttt....

OP it seems that the compatibility of the GTA games on the PS3 is a bit of an issue so its nothing that your doing thats giving you such a headache:

I had no issues with it on my PS3. Graphics were pretty crap but then the game never looked nice, I don't have a PS2 anymore so I can't compare directly. I just put it down to the game being ugly but I guess it could be an emulation issue.

    Still plays great though.

BC PS2 games in general look like total ass in comparison to a PS3 game.
They're either too pixelated with smoothing turned off, or too blurred with smoothing turned on:(
Either way, it starts to hurt my eyes after an hour of play

`turned on smoothing and upscaling, looks a bit better, rest ill chalk down to being spoiled by uncharted :)

Tries it out on the PS3, and it looks ok to me, same as , maybe a bit better than on the PS2.
