Cuba is expensive compared to other places in Caribbean/Latin America.
You'll get better value for money in Mexico.

Search the forum, plenty of old posts on both.

So are you looking for a beach holiday all inclusive or a bit of backpacking?

Travelled through Cuba last March/April for three weeks and had a great time; combination of home stays in Casa Particulares and a beach holiday at the end.

Tough at times, but very rewarding and you will have a great time if you go this way.

If you are looking for a Caribbean beach holiday it is a waste, as other places offer better value and standards and culture insight is not going to be high on the agenda.

If you are interested in the former I will get some pointers together for end of the week

i was thinking of 2 weeks. 1 week traveling around (rental car) and 1 week on my ass drinking rum by the pool.

I heard that you need accom booked before you arrive .. do i need it booked for the entire 2weeks , or just for the first few nights ?

Any tips on how to keeo costs down.. it does look expensive

went for 4 wks last yr and stayed for 4 days in havana, 1 week in the all inclusive side called varadoro which was crap( you could have been anywhere in the world, queing for meals, etc). the rest of the time we stayed with families but if one of you doesnt speak spanish id say it would be nearly impossible. we got a 50euro flight to the isle of youth and went diving there which was really really cheap in comparison. i cant remember exactly how much we spent but i remember thinking it was really cheap at the time and we were on a budjet. one of the casa's we stayed with cooked for us every nite and morning and 7nts accom was only 100euro. if you go outside the tourist places like that island we could use the cuban peso which was pennies to us. overall it was one of the best holidays ever, safe, cheap and brillient people. you should defo go.

You should definitely go! We were there for two weeks in September.

We did a package holiday but went to Havana for a couple of days. The package was ok but like other posters have said you could have been by a pool anywhere!

Havana was amazing! It truly is one of the most spectacular places I have ever been!

If I were doing it again I'd probably just go to Havana and skip the package holiday part. And I'd definitely do more snorkelling/diving it was brilliant!
