This is my monitor http://www.viewsonic.com/support/desktopdisplays/lcddisplays/graphicseries/vg500/. I want to play my playstation 3 on this monitor. What cable/connection do I need? Or is it even possible?

The playstation has component AV cable supplied with it... The Monitor is a VGA input. You can get an adapter to do the job but... You're going to lose signal quality, etc. Better off going for for a monitor with DVI or hdmi input and get a straight hdmi to hdmi cable or one of these...
