Unpaid Item Strike for COD item (eBay)

I ordered an item on eBay earlier in December and the seller only had COD as a payment option. I went with that.

But over Christmas I got a warning that the item was unpaid and today received an Unpaid Item Strike and negative feedback. I'm so angry about this. How am I supposed to pay for a COD item which I haven't received? The seller isn't responding to me, plus he's German so I don't think he knows English anyway. I'm not sure what to do about this, does anyone have some advice? All this for a measly €3.89.

Lesson learned: In future, PayPal only.

Did the item arrive at all?

I'd say you'd be best reporting the seller to eBay and see if they'll do anything. Leave the seller negative feedback too perhaps. This way, you can at least put your side of the argument forward.

If it's COD then surely there has to be a record of delivery? Contact the seller (using a translation site if he doesn't understand english)

Once that's done if you have no resolution then go through the disputes option of ebay.

Did it not strike you as odd that a seller would be looking for COD on an item that cost €3.89? I'm guessing a delivery service that does COD would cost €10 to 20 euro. Or was it €3.89 + p&p?
