Interesting but a bit of a weak, rose tinted article in my opinion. The author doesn't pay any attention to where each of the consoles is in it's lifespan or where the ps2 was (in it's lifespan) when it became "Affordable, easy to use and with a huge library of games".

2 key things that the article/author glosses over ,and which jump out at mefrom this article are:
    1) the ps2 was not really affordable at launch, nor did it have a must-have list of games (no console really does at launch)
    2) 2 weeks of trouble does not make xbox live a failure

    But that's just me :)

Didn't read the entire article, but the one thing that's making me play my PS3 more and more over the 360 is the fact that its almost silent. There's nothing more annoying than trying to unwind after work with a game only for the constant drone of the 360 putting you off it completely.
xbox live's downtime today was fairly annoying, but compared to the number of times that I've tried to get a game of Warhawk going is pretty much insignificant.
There's still a long way for Sony to come yet, and I don't see them taking the lead (of the 2 true next gen consoles) any time soon.
