What weight would he fight at 155? Man he would get his ass handed to him.

there is no way that he will ever compete in MMA.Why the hell would he compete in MMA when he would get nowhere near as much money as he does in boxing. Also he probably would get his ass handed to him.It a lose all the way situation for him if he gets into MMA

He'll more than likely get involved in training MMA fighters boxing and promoting MMA fighters, he's already promoting boxing matches so he probably wants to broaden his business..good for him and good for MMA.

Plus he might get some boxers he promotes to cross train for MMA too and that would be good for MMA in my opinion as most other fight sports are properly represented in MMA bar boxing. Money talks.

I think Floyd is just using the whole thing to premote himself and take some fans from MMA.

Floyd Snr is not the only boxer saying Floyd Junior is a nutcase.

    Peace

His hands are too damaged for mma. He was getting special treatment for the hatton fight.

The best P4P fighter in boxing at the moment, I don't think he gives a sh1te about MMA fans. Also his old man is fruit cake with a chip on his shoulder.

sherdog radio discussed this at length and agreed that it was promotional bluster benefitting both hdnet fights and mayweather, it isn't feasible for floyd to do it

he'd have to learn a completely new discipline and as much as it would be a decent challenge for an athalete of his callibre... he makes 30 million a fight and no fight in MMA his ever come within that by a few orders of magnitude.

whilst training for mma he'd be giving up dedication to his main sport

he requires very specially designed pillows for his hands on top of his 10 ounce gloves, his hands are known to be very fragile after several bad breaks in his career so dawning the 4 ounce leathers isn't really feasible

it's clear he'd like to get involved in mma but don't believe the talk, it's just designed to promote both parties and the sport

Floyd will never fight in MMA. His strengths in boxing would become weaknesses in MMA, like his stance and his defence. He's hasn't got that one-punch-knockout power, he's more of a technical fighter and any half decent wrestler would be able to take him down. I think that he already knows that he has no intentions of doing MMA, but even if he really thought that he could do it, some MMA training would soon show him how much he'd need to learn and relearn

There are no big money opponents that could face Floyd in MMA at his weight. If he were to face a lesser-known fighter then he'd have everything to lose and nothing to gain. It'd be the same for boxing in a way. I think in Japan all boxers are banned from competing in MMA and if they ever do then they're banned from ever boxing in Japan again. The boxing association there knows how much boxers getting beaten by MMA fighters would affect the sport

But by the same token, Floyd would destroy any MMA fighters in a boxing ring

The point about brittle hands is a good one, and Floyd will almost certainly never fight MMA.

But if his hands held up he would a difficult proposition in a MMA fight for anybody if he got the right training (he is addicted to training and always prepares immaculately).

I mean where was Bisping a few years ago, and his record is someting like 15-0-1 ?

I wouldn't write off Floyd's punching power so quickly. While I agree, he almost certainly has no intention of fighting in mma (and would be foolish to do so given how little he has to gain and how much he has to lose), I don't agree that just because he isn't a big puncher in boxing, he wouldn't have knockout power in mma. Knockouts in boxing tend to come from an accumulation of punches but in mma, one or two well timed, accurate punches can do the job and Floyd's timing and accuracy are two of his strongest points.

His movement would probably also translate pretty well, with the right training. Granted, it's unlikely he could learn enough takedown defense and groundwork to be a force in mma but I think he's not someone your average 155 pounder could afford to take lightly either.

The brittle hands are a hard one to call. On one hand, they'd be less protected in mma but on the other, he wouldn't have to use them as much to get results. Like I said, a handful of solid shots in mma will do a lot more damage than they will in boxing.

Regardless, I think we can all agree that it's unlikely we'll ever find out. A move to mma would be interesting for fans but it would very likely be financially disasterous for Floyd.

Would he fight at 155 though? A lot of those guys cut from around 170lbs, and Floyd isn't near that. He'd be more likely to fight at 145lbs (hypothetically speaking, it's not gonna happen!). A guy like Jens Pulver or Urijah Faber would destroy Mayweather if they got him to the ground, and I've seen both those guys take some vicious shots yet still get the takedown. I'd bet my house on either of them against Floyd in an MMA fight, they're MMA fighters, he's not

    Intermittently.

According to wikipedia he was working as a postman and only started really training for MMA in 2003.

Floyd is a phenomenal athlete, worker and fighter and I think he could learn more about MMA in say a year's training than you guys give him credit for.
    It will never happen though.
