Around 600e. If it's got the extended warranty, and it's not registered- push up to about 650e.

Welcome to the world of technology.

I bought a hi-tech phone last year for €700. I sold it before Christmas for €230.

You're paying for the style. I have to admit sony do some nice looking laptops, I wouldn't pay extra for it though.

Was it pink? If so you can be guaranteed that it has terrible specs. :D

Most men do that and live to regret it.

so wht laptop should i get

i thought you wanted to get rid of the laptop, not buy a another one ;)

The sony you have seems like your average laptop, so if you're changing it what would you want different. Is there something about the sony you don't like?

Most new laptops, won't be any better. You could go for something smaller though(12/13" screen), or something with a 17" screen. Or something with better graphics if games are important

If that laptop is a bit slow, there must be a lot of crap on it because it's a fairly decent spec. Apart from the memory, that is. A quick and cheap way to improve performance would be to buy more memory for it - around €50.

If you don't want to do that, have a look at the sticky at the top of the forum titled "How to ask for help". Give us that info and we can advise you better.

the vostro 1400, would be faster and a bit smaller
    http://configure.euro.dell.com/dellstore/config.aspx?config_data=&c=ie&cs=iedhs1&fb=1&kc=123&l=en&oc=N0114005&x=0&y=0
Starts about 800euro (when you reduce the warrenty)

the dell xps m1330 is smaller again and looks alot better, but is more expensive for the smame sort of spec.
