Talk about bringing in a ringer. I know it's good to get match fit and all but is it wise of him o risk injury playing in this match?

Jaysus he was injured last time round while doing weight lifting. He had to get some game time with Young Munster's once the ML games was postponed.

Should increase the gate receipts for YM in Clifford Park today.

Aertel said earlier that they lost they match 10-9. Meh.

If I was a YM player I'd be a bit aggrieved that he got a spot and didn't intend to do much.

I hear what you're saying and in a sense I'd agree with you but if you look at our fixtures and consider he has to be match fit for the 6Ns then he has to play 40 mins next week and depending on his fitness then either start or another 40 mins against Wasps.

Jeez, your never happy, earlier you were worried he'd get injured now because he minded himnself you're not happy. I think most YM players would welcome POC to their team anytime - a 30% performance from O'Connell would be more feared than a 100% AIL squad member.

BTW, some say there was 1,000 supporters there and at a guess most were there because of O'Connell - nice little kitty for YM if correct.

What do you make of professionals mixing it up with amatuer AIL players? I'm kind of on the fence but all I know is that if I was playing for buccs and I got a slap off POC I'd have a hard job getting up for work the next day.

Yes but my main concern is injury to amateur players, that's all.

Anyone i know playing in AIL is far from a small guy. While they arent pro they are good enough for the pro's that play in the division.

POC out for the Clermont game, is it just me or is this injury beginning to sound particularly ominous? Serious disc trouble and second rows never a happy mix....

That's an awful pity. Hope he'll be alright soon, back injuries are no fun and not just from a rugby point of view. Wish him a full recovery.

I'd say given his personality the injury is driving him insane like Mal in that 6 nations dvd where he was declared unfit to play, he looked like his heart was being ripped out.

What was the score? Where was this being shown :O! Still dont think he should play any part in the 6N since i argue that you should be picked on merit and not on the basis that your a favourite

POC back injury has flarred up again. He is definately out for Munster game this week and Scotland game the week after.
The injury is looking like a career ender at the moment. After every game he makes his comeback, the injury flares up again.

It's a knee injury this time is it not? Unlucky and frustrating, but better than it being the back again.

Where did you hear that? According to RTE there was a glitch on the IRFU Server which seems to have issued a erroneous media release stating Paul had a set-back http://www.rte.ie/sport/rugby/sixnations/2008/0212/oconnellp.html.
