How will it ruin Irish Cricket? Ed was already contracted to Middlesex and unable to play for Ireland in the C & G Trophy, and would essentially only be available to play cricket for Ireland out of season.

Ed is a professional cricketer and made "business" decisions to benefit his financial position. He also wants to play cricket at the highest level, and hopefully he will play test cricket for England in the future.

Ireland not having a professional setup of some sort will have a much worse impact on Irish cricket.

i didnt know about the ICG trophy thing u mentioned.

And yes i understand why he made the decision, but if other players left, which is unlikely, wont it leave us with a depleated World cup team etc?

The Friends Provident Trophy (formerly the C&G Trophy) is the one day county competition that Ireland and Scotland also compete in.

This is what used to be known as the England "A" team.

Good to see him back in there. They are heading to India towards the end of January.

Back at the bottom run again. As bad as the test and ODI squads are, I can't see him challenging for a place in either team again.
