Just a quick overview: There's a club in UCD Belfield, another small one off the Belgard Road. Nitro racers use a section of the Royal Canal near Enfield. Yachters sail their model yachts at the Malahide Marina, Dunlaoghaire Marina, Howth Marina, anglers use RC bait boats all over the place, but particularly in carp lakes.

No, that doesnt come painted, but ya can get some of the tamiya models in "finished" form, but they are a little expensive.

Gooood. I was hoping they wouldn't be painted. That doesn't look too complex to paint but looks nice. Wooop. Ordering soon. What sorta paint and tools should I get too?

Good to see you taking the plunge and trying a model. Suggestions of what you need would be:-

    a) Model/Body (car) filler - For filling pin and injection marks.
    b) Range of sanding paper, I would suggest from 400 - 1500 grit, at least - For sanding filler and removing mold lines.
    c) Primer, halfords rattle can is fine - Needed so paint will adhere to car better plus means the laquer top coat wont melt the plastic.
    d) Top coat (colour)-Again using a range of Halfords laquer paints is possible.Even using a Porsche colour code if you so wished.
    e) Range of paints for interior and chasis parts - Normally use something like Humbrol tinlets.
    f) Good hobby knife - xacto are the best make.

Maybe Dok can add to this list but that will certainly get u started. For painting instructions go to http://italianhorses.net/ look in the tutorials section. Alex Kustov is an absolute master when it comes to automotive modelling. Nearly all the stuff above can be got in Halfords/Hardware store/Art Supply shop.

If you have any questions just shout. And best of luck with it, let us know how you are getting on.

    Flunked,
You have two rc racing clubs on your doorstep.

In Celbridge you have racing most Sundays in the Mill Centre and once the weather picks up you will have off road racing in Griffen Park in Lucan.

The LMCC who run the racing in Celbridge have a 6 round championship kicking off next Sunday (13th Jan). We had one guy out today running a Yokomo drift car and he said it was the best day he's had with the car. He just changed tyres to those we use for racing and the car was fine.

Might be worth coming a long next Sunday for a look or if you get the HPI your looking at by then why not join us for some racing. We have two guys who got HPI E10 cars for Christmas who are due to start racing with us next Sunday. Tyres are available at the track (€20 a set).

    Regards,

    Oisin

Do you know what time racing is at on Sundays? I'm fairly deffinite it will clash with other activities :(
Reading up on the E10 apantly the drive train is useless and any more power and it's dead :(

Ah right thanks. Would only be able to go there from 4:30 onwards :(

I'm not too sure where I read it but it seems it has potential. But it currently has a rubbish drivetrain and its too young (for use of a better word) for hopups.
PS: I'm watching the Yokomos. I read they were world class cars when released. But that was in 2003!

Can I ask you if you want to drift or race or both with the one chassis?

Don't really need one so it seems. If worse comes to worst. I'll think about taking you up on it. Maybe.:D

    OK then
go and buy yourself a second hand Associated TC3 or TC4

TC3 is one of the better drift chassis out there.
Change your wheels/tyres/shell and go racing as it is still a good race car for a beginner. ;)

    OR WATCH THIS ONE...!!!

It wouldnt take much to put THIS ONE back together..

    SERVO...ESC..BATTERY PACK...AND..MOTOR WITH TIHS ONE. :D
