Route 66?

    :Has anyone travelled this route in the last couple of years. thinking about it for either June or September this year, any advice re montorhomes, car rental, hotels etc :)

    i have travelled part of it in arizona and new mexico, very isolated but breathtakingly beautiful, its a 2500 mile journey from chicago to santa monica just so you know.

    you would be hitting the hottest part of the year in the american west in June, travelling through the mojave desert in 100-120F heat is not nice :) September, preferably late september would be a better time of the year to go.

    route 66 travels through or close to some major cities like St Louis, oklahoma city, Amarillo and Flagstaff so you should have no problem finding decent accommodation in all those cities
