Do you have one ? Do you read any ? Is it generally friends that read and comment on yours or do you have random internet people commenting ?

I enjoy writing but find it hard to motivate myself, maybe a blog would be a good way to keep writing while not actually putting much effort in...HMM

I say go for it. Give it a go, and see if you enjoy it, or it inspires you.

I have one I haven't updated in a while, mainly because I have nothing to say at the minute. The only random internet people I have had comment are spammers, though one of my posts does seem to be riding high on a Google search for the comment and drives much of the (miniscule) traffic I see to it.

Do I follow any? Yes. Lots. A good section of my day is practically spent on Google Reader. I'm thinking that I'm going to have to revise my strategy for reading them soon.

I have my own one, find it kinda theraputic (check spell)

I ran a site but was hassle gettin people to do their bit so i like the blog aspect, focuses on content more so than how the site looks.

Mostly people just wander on by mine, the stats are http://my.statcounter.com/project/standard/stats.php?project_id=3082497&guest=1
, mostly people just swing by to take a look.

If starting out i would go with blogger or wordpress.com and set up a free account and just write about what takes yer fancy! (blogger has the added ability to post to your blog by email)

Give Wordpress a go, I think it's very good. You can get some really nice themes for it, check out the "web 2.0" ones especially

Thanks. I'm not sure if blogger is the best, but I've heard people say that because it's owned by google, it gets better results in a search.

Yeah, www.statcounter.com is what I use. I also use google analytics.

you're getting a fair amount of hits. How did you get your blog out there ? Just by putting it in your boards.ie sig ?

Eh no not really, the blog existed since 2005 but as a diary of sorts, when i decided i wanted to blog more and more i just added it to the signatures on posts on forums / on email but mostly i visit other peoples blogs and interact, i comment on their posts and if they add me to their blogroll all the well! Also only got the concept of track back aswell

Didnt think i was getting all that great of hits to be honest but thanks lol

I have a couple myself and blogger is great, that said I am planing on using my Boards one too in the near future.


You'd be amazed at the amount of people that find y our blog and read it. I've had comments from all over the world.

I like the blog, tusky.

I started my blog because although I enjoy writing, I'm really lazy. Having a blog encourages me to write. I don't really do it for anyone's benefit but myself, though I would like to take it a step forward.

I don't really do much to publicise my blog (signature aside), so I take some small joy that my scathing attackon Joe Duffy ranks highly in the google search results and hopefully drives many angry, menopausal housewives in my direction.
