Was wondering if anybody out there is running on 64 bit Vista. If so, have you come across any issues with installing and/or running any Adobe products?

I've been running it for about 2 months now. Have both Acrobat Reader and Photoshop working fine but haven't been able to get illustrator to work. I didn't really need it so when it didn't work first time, I didn't bother. It installed fine but when I started it, teh loading screen appears and seemed to do it's thing, then it just quits.

Like I said, haven't chased up on it.

surely Adobe have released a vista patch for any affected products? If not, do what the rest of the computing community is doing; Avoid vista like the plague.

Microsoft themselves have released a great patch for Vista. It comes on discs labeled Windows XP. Just insert, restart your computer and follow the instructions. You'll find all your Vista problems will be fixed ;)

Most the guys I game with are running on Vista now and don't seem to be having any problems. Although they are all running on the 32 bit version. I'm due a machine upgrade and am wondering if I'm buying trouble if I go down the 64 bit road. There doesn't seem to be any obvious dates for a Vista SP release either. Would be nice if they would release it before I commit to it, but I'm not so sure we'll see it in the first half of this year.

I run Vista 64 bit and have had zero problems. Couldn't go back to XP now. Even my games run just as fast as they did under XP. I ran 32 bit Vista for a while after launch and it wasn't so good but they really seem to have improved it over the last few months with patches.

SP1 should be out soon enough, they already have a public release candidate available. Don't expect something like XP SP2 though. Its going to be much more along the lines of traditional windows service packs, in that its nearly all under the bonnet stuff.

My Son is a big gamer, he and his friends wouldn't touch vista. I upgraded my own Pc with the 64bit version, three hours later I had XP version back on it. Those boys in microsoft have a long way to go before I would even attempt Vista again.

It's funny cos it's true... Although that patch comes with it's own problems. After applying the patch, you're stuck with windows xp :D

Maybe I was just lucky then? I think Vista got such a bad rep initially because a lot of third party hardware/software manufactures weren’t that quick to refresh their existing line-up. Pretty much any new hardware/software comes Vista compatible.

Admittedly my PC is a brand new self build so I knew what was going in and it would work. I couldn’t see myself upgrading to Vista from XP if it wasn’t a new PC. For me Vista has very little pull over XP other than a bit more security safe (hopefully) and it’s newer so it’ll add to my PC longevity.

This adobe blogpost was written in Dec 2006 but it might answer some of your questions...

I've gotten a number of questions on the beta forums as to why Photoshop CS3 won't have a 64-bit version. It's definitely a when question, not an if, and there are a lot of factors involved. I though I might collect some of the information together here.

Vista SP1 should be out soon and then it will be semi usable.

Installed it on several machines even mac's but had to remove again due to it's deplorable compatibility issues with everything.
