Mods:- Please let this stay here for a bit!
I know it should be in the Belfast City Forum, but you can see the Tumbleweed blowing down that forum, so I'll never get a response there!
I'm going to Belfast tomorrow, so I need to book a hotel today, so I'm hoping for a few quick replies.

    For those who know Belfast:-
Can you tell me dodgy areas to avoid?
Are there areas were catholics are not welcome?
What streets are good for pubs & restaurants?
Could you recommend any in particular? (Restaurants that serve the typical steak, chicken, fish, potato, gravy type meals only)
Have any of you stayed in the Days Hotel?
    Would you recommend it?
Do you know the area around it? Safe etc?
Or could you recommend any other good (reasonably priced) hotels which have parking.

Again, sorry for it being the wrong forum, but all suggestions / recommendations greatly appreciated as I'm a bit limited on time.
    Thanks,
    BB

I stayed in the Radisson SAS up there a few times in the Gasworks.

Lovely hotel with parking and reasonably priced etc.

as for areas to avoid, they'll be a little obvious.

Shankhill Rd, just look out for the art :)

Days Hotel is fantasic, I've stayed there several times and never had a bad experience. It feels like a dodgy area but unless you're going into the housing estate behind it, you'll be fine. I've also stayed in Europa and Holiday Inn Express but didn't think as much of them. I've no idea what the parking is like, I've always taken the bus. Belfast is quite a small city so you probably won't need to drive around when you get there.

If you're looking for restaurants, try the Golden Mile area near Queens, can't recommend any particular restaurant but there are quite a few there. There's probably a weatherspoons around if you're on a budget, the food can be decent and the prices are great.

Queens and the attached Botanic Gardens are well worth a visit if you've time. The city centre and the area around the Waterfront are great for taking a leisurely stroll. The bus tours can be great crais, especially if they're taken by a guide who's from the area. If you've never seen them, the "Peace" wall and Stormont are well worth visiting.

Shankhill, Sandy Row, Falls, for a start.

From the above, Shankhill and Sandy Row, but don't worry, you'lll soon know where you're not welcome. :)

Stick to Great Victoria Street, Shaftsbury Square, Botanic Aveune and Stranmillis.

If it's the same Days Hotel that I'm thinking of, it's in Sandy Row, stay clear. It's, mostly for business types.

Try the Europa, Jury's or the Hilton.
Are you looking for budget? There are plenty of Holiday Inns. Or try Duke's. It's kinda crummy too.

    Feel free to PM me.
/edit Great Victoria Street, Shaftsbury Square are part of the Golden Mile markpb is talking about. Though people from Belfast don't really call it that.

Re-read the charter. Post for traffic again and I'll ban you.
