Is it really hard to find office job?

After 2 years working in many various places like factories, warehouses etc. as manual labourer i started think seriously to get some job in office. I have 3 years of experience in local government's office as IT administrator. This job was not only about hardware/software etc but included all paperwork as well. Unfortunatelly it was in Poland. In Ireland I'm only manual worker without exprience (excluded packing, assembling mp3 players, picking orders in warehouses).
After many months i understood that it is not so easy to find other ob or me. I just want go back to business. It could be anything! Any office job like data entry, copying documents etc.
As You can see, my english is not really fluent, but I think is good enough to communicate with other employees.
If you can, please give me some tips, because I started loosing hope :(
    regards...

Would you consider working in a bank? Banks are always on the look out for staff on a monthly basis and especially those who can speak a few languages due to the nature of the varied customers who come through the door.

If you are willing to temp, the temp agencies are always looking for people to work as receptionists, data entry, etc.

Temping is a good way to get experience on your CV.

You can use the link in my signature to apply to all the main agencies at once.

I worked with a guy in the past in an IT role whos English was very poor. You seem to have good experience, so if you are serious about this, take some English lessons. A few months of lessons should see a huge improvement.

Stepbar and Dublindude: good idea, and anyway that what I do since 2 monts - keep sending CVs to any job offer like temporary, data entry etc. Maybe it's not really good time (Christmas etc.) for that, maybe it takes another few monts or maybe it is my bad luck :(
wheres me jumpa - probably You're right. As most of immigrants I can freely speak english using simply language without any sophisticated words. Maybe this is the problem - I need more professional language. Thanks for advices

Why don't you seek a position of IT administrator ?? I reckon it would be easier since you've got experience.

I do that since I came to Ireland. Nobody gave mi chance to show my skills. I didn't work as IT in Ireland yet - thats the problem.

I imagine there is a prejudice in the recruitment of immigrants to work in irish orientated offices.
I think you'll find it difficult without having fluent english.
    Sorry to say.

I'm afraid you're right. But do I really need fluent, sopihisticated language for data entry, copying, scanning documnets or preparing tea/coffee for others?

The thing that piss me off is that my polish friend - a leggy, tall blonde girl got a goog office job without any exprience or background.
Sometimes I think that is better for immigrants to come to this country without any previous education and exprience, work on constuction site, save money, buy the cheapest food and beer in lidl, complain about weather...
I don't want be like that

I know Jackus, it isn't right. Your attitude is admirable. Perseverance is key, and continually improving yourself is also key (in terms of language and skills).

Your English is already perfectly acceptable and will only continue to get better.

You should apply to the temping agencies, as they can often be a step to fulltime office work. Ring up La Creme, MaryB, Hays etc and arrange to come in for an interview.

Additionally think of businesses that now interact with Polish customers, ie the banks, the mobile phone operators, the ESB, Bord Gais etc. It is possible that they are looking for Polish speakers to work for them.

My tuppence worth would be to get your cv typed up so that there is no spelling mistakes etc on it, and then get in touch with some of the recruitment agencies.

I see you have Dublin as your location, so maybe try Excel recruitment and the Achievers group. The Achievers group are on Capel Street, and Excel is just off Capel street on Mary's Abbey (Just around the corner from Rhodes)

The reason I picked those two for Dublin, is that some friends of mine who moved to Ireland all got placed in jobs through them, and two of them went to office jobs.

There are a couple of people here on the Jobs forum who sometimes volunteer to proof-read CVs. Maybe one of those people might pop up here.

Early morning i was alarmed by phone call. A ldy from recruitment agency found a job for me. 6 weeks only, data entry but anyway it's kind of office job! So I'm after 1st working day :)

Well done Jackus. Once you've got that first job, others should follow.

    Good luck.

Great stuff Jackus. Once you have 6 weeks data entry experience in Ireland, you should find it a lot easier to find an IT position for a longer contract or even full-time.

Your written english is quite acceptable.
