using a 3.5" SATA2 hdd with a laptop?

    what is the best way to go about transferring data from a sata drive to a laptop, enclosure?

    i got just the usb2 ports here.


    ideas?

    enclosure is basically the only way.

    unless you connect the drive to a desktop and then transfer the files over a network cable.

    Maplin do a device that allows bare IDE drives to connect to a USB port - it's called an EasyIDE.

    The company that makes this device also make a similar interface for SATA. I don't see it listed on Maplins site but the link above says it's only about 30 quid !!

    An enclosure makes more sense IMO.
