I am looking into buying a laptop to use for playing games. I want to be able to play any games that come out for at least 2-3 years but I am not too fussed about how well they play. It does not have to be that mobile but i would like a fairly reasonable battery. My budget is around 1000-1200 euro. Can anybody help.

Your kinda contradicting yourself a small bit, you want to play games from now to 2-3 years in the future, but don't care about how well they play? The amount you have to spend would get a middle of the range "gaming" laptop (if that). Gaming laptops are expenisve by their very nature and having said that the minute you buy them there nearly worth half the price you paid due to the latest model coming just around the corner.
Whats the point then?, get a good gaming desktop and a budget laptop.

You might want to wait for the mobile 8800 cards to come out before buying although they will probably push the price way out of your budget.

Best thing to do would be to spend €800 or so now on a decent core 2 duo 2.0ghz,8600gt laptop, sell it in a year for €400 and get a new one again for €800 which will probably have a quad core,9600gt etc :D
