Non Drinking Quiz Night in Dublin City Centre!

I'm thinking of organising a Non Drinking Quiz Night in Dublin...but before I start making plans, I'd just like to see if there's enough people interested. There'll most likely be a bit of live music too!

I been organising stuff like this for years and it's always really fun.

I'm thinking the quiz could start at around 8.30 in either a coffee place or non-drinking area of pub (Cassidy's Westmoreland St upstairs is lovely). Any other ideas for venues welcome. I could have it on a weekend but it will cost more than a weekday. What would people prefer?

There'll be a small charge per table which should cover the quiz prizes and hopefully the venue. I am contacting various organisations to get sponsorship for prizes, etc.

So whatta ya think? Any suggestions welcome :)

Yeah, I love table quizzes. And I know a non-boards non-drinker who would come along too...

Thanks to everyone who has replied so far!

If anyone else is interested, please post a reply on this thread! I need 16 people minimum. Also, if you are planning on bringing friends, please say so :)

I recently contacted Cineworld & they have very kindly given me some lovely cinema related prizes for the table quiz winners! Prizes will include cinema tickets, soft drinks vouchers & large popcorn vouchers.

There will be other great prizes on the night too.

    Many thanks to Cineworld!

Sounds good, mid week is good too. A small function room in a hotel could cover it too.

as a btw, where would you find a venue that wasn't that back room/upstairs of a pub, I guess a fucntion room in cheap hotel is a good idea, or perhaps a communtiy centre.

This is great - I reckon that we have enough people to get the ball a rollin'! It's tough enough finding a venue but leave it with me...I know a lovely quiet pub function room seperate from the bar that would be good if we got some food and softdrinks brought up...I'll send around event details later this week! :) if anyone else wants to go, please post on this thread!

Hi All - great news! I've found a venue called 'Cassidy's' on Westmoreland Street. It's been done up recently and has a cool bohemian-type vibe.

I've spoken to the manager and he said they would fully support any non drinking events we want to have there. Monday / Tuesday nights are all good. Let me know what suits you!

They just got a new fancy coffee machine which he claims is better than Starbucks! :D Lots of yummy food on the menu and if it's cool with people, we can order a few platters on the night.

I'm thinkin of chargin 20euro per table (4 people) and I'll use the money to buy platters & prizes. That ok?

Hi. Tuesday night is probably better for myself but would need a date as I do be down in the country alot sometimes during the week. But if everone else goes with Monday I'm sure I could make it. 20 euro is grand. Looking forward to it

    That sounds great.

Might be worth starting a thread in events to publicise it as well.

I'll happily do up a few sigs for you as well to help promote it around the site.

Monday or Tuesday (except next Tuesday - Rollins in Vicar Street) is good for me. I'll try making a team of four but I'll bring at least one other person with me.

Firstly, thanks very much for your efforts in organising this. I know it can be a hassle getting things together. Tuesday in general is a better night for me although I'm happy to chime in either way.

    Thanks Zan

In general I would say Mondays were better for me, but they're a bit busy now too. I'll see if I can make it on whatever night is chosen. I'll let some friends know anyway. Cassidy's is nice, that's where we were having the book club until recently.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23,216 ✭✭✭✭monkeyfudge

I'm sure I could do either night... but Tuesday might suit better.

    Hey All

I'm still working on this! It's harder to organise then you'd think. I have a volunteer who's getting the questions part sorted. Pretty much you're gonna have to watch this space...but fear not, I'll let people know as soon as I have it sorted.

    Cheers :)

    Good stuff.

Keep us posted. I'm still interested in attending.
