Warning : the following post may contain some criticism of NTL / UPC

    Hi all,

Spent some time in Waterford at Christmas and noticed the following with NTL, Problems that were there 12 months ago too I might add !!

UTV has a constant LF audio hum on all transmission, network and Belfast programming and commercials.
Sometimes Setanta programmes are "letterboxed" 16:9 so you're literally watching through a letterbox !!!
City Channel was frozen on a shot for over 2 days, their prob I'm guessing rather than NTL in fairness, looked like a playout system crashed. Their audio is always distorted in WD aswell. Anybody know why ?

EDIT: I forgot to mention Setanta and Channel 6 being off air for hours / days at a time.

Does nobody monitor or control transmission locally in each NTL area ? Its crazy that this should be happening. Also does nobody complain ? I know I will be even though I'm not the billpayer in this case. Oh and I checked a couple of TV's in different houses so its not a localised issue in one house.
Look forward to somebody shedding some light.

    Thanks.

    You haven't actually complained then?

Wow ! I was under the impression this was a discussion forum. Those replies are hardly constructive.
My point is that this problem is a long standing one that has never been addressed by the cable provider. Whether any paying customer has complained or not is neither here nor there. Does the company not monitor its output ? At the very least does no NTL employee sitting at home watching TV see this and report it to the relevant personnel ?

As it happens I did send a letter to NTL / UPC today pointing out these faults and requested an acknowledgement of receipt. Hopefully the few thousand subscribers in Waterford will have normal transmission resuming shortly !
