Buying a US VHS

Looking for a film called "Isadora" from 1968 I think it is and it seems it's only available on VHS and seems to only be available on Ebay in NTSC :(

So what would I need to do in order to view it on a PAL video player, or better still, DVD?

    Any feedback appreciated :)

Some friends of mine ordered a VHS cassette from the US, years ago. When the tape arrived, it was in black and white. Apparently it was because when it was x-rayed in customs it damaged the tape slightly.

So, if the film is black and white, then there should be no problems otherwise its definitely something to consider.

Unfortunately I have no other feedback to offer :(

im pretty sure most modern vcr's will play back NTSC videos aswell as PAL (as in most vcr's made in the last 6 or 7 years i'd imagine).

And Ivan, i think your friends problem is his television. What i mean is it sounds like his telly is old and won't play back NTSC content properly because NTSC content (for me anyway) always shows in black and white if i play it on an old non-NTSC compatible television whereas i get a proper full colour picture on any of my newer tv's

B+W playback is due to an incompatible TV not a damaged tape.

Older high-end VCRs were able to play NTSC tapes in a semi-PAL format (PAL-60) that most modern TVs can display, cheap models generally couldn't. More recent models are generally very basic as the market for high-spec vcrs had gone so some probably would but others wouldn't.

It should be possible to record this to a DVD recorder, most will record full NTSC format, Pal-60 may cause problems with some though.

Any NTSC video I have bought from the US played perfectly on my cheapo bottom of the market Power City VCR and TV.
