Irish Tax Refund + working in Australia

I was in Ireland for the first 5 months of this year and in this time I paid a considerable amount of tax. I went travelling for 18 months then and didn't start working in Australia until November of this year. Before I left Ireland, I applied for a tax refund for the first 5 months but the tax office has asked to see a copy of my World Earnings in order to conduct a tax review.

Should this not be completely seperate to what I earn in Ireland and therefore not affect my tax rebate?
