    Hi,

Im thinking about treating myself to a PS3 because im so annoyed to be back in work!

I loved all the Pro Ev's in the past but read a bad review for the 2008 one on the PS3. Is it worth getting? And if not, any recommendations?

It has some niggles but it's still a great game, offline.

Online is still laggy as hell and not worth it.

And its far better than FIFA as usual.

I have both, and Fifa 08 is better :)

    Same here,

Both on 360, Just PES on PS3

    And PES2008 is better :)

    Just like all previous years.

FIFA is better than usual though so credit is due,

But it's still a long way behind. Doesn't feel like real football at all.

Rent both, OP, and then decide.

FIFA has come on leaps and and bounds.

PES has somewhat stagnated but still has that same great gameplay.

If you download the update then Pro Evo is fantastic fun.

FIFA is one of the best games of the year.

A true football simulation. Its also brilliant online (5vs5)

I have played bith Fifa 08 and PES2088 on 360&PS3.

I normally love PES but it is rubbish on the PS3.
Its decent enough on the PC with maxed out graphics but looks terrible on HDTV on PS3. Shockingly bad. Thats with patch 1.1 (actually looks worse with it) and without.

I would say go for PES. I got FIFA with the console and i must admit it has got better, but i traded it in for PES. It has some issues but offline, mulitplayer and the master league is great fun.

The best FIFA game of all was on the megadrive FIFA International Football (1994) - EA going to win:D:D

Ive been a pro evo man goin way back to the iss games but I'm afraid PES 2008 on PS3 is terrible, really disappointing, theyve really ruined a great licence, Ive just sold it on ebay and did the unthinkable and bought FIFA 08 to give it a go, couldnt be any worse than the mess that is PES 2008

If you have a ps2 stick with that for pes'08 it's the superior version, i have both and only ever play the ps2 version with mates,
the ps3 online mode is just about playable when you have a full 3 bar connection (i in10 games with me and I have a 2 meg connection!!), otherwise it lags terribly

Also I've downloaded the 1.2 patch, anyone have any idea what this is supposed to have 'fixed'????????

Basically done nothing to the gameplay. Fix's some glitch on standard def tv's. 130Mb for nothing!!

Tried playing it online for the first time tonight and found it unplayable. Ball just jumps around the field to often and some lag issues too. (On a 3mb line too so shudn't be a problem!)

Game is okay offline but still pretty poor compared to what it kudda been.

Tried online after 1.20, its shockingly bad, Konami really dropped the ball with the online play. Really hoping they do something its the one game i really want to try online.
