I know this has probably been asked a 1000 times over and over and over (boom tish!!), but im floating between the boss RC20 and the line 6 green one. I havent tried the line 6 but have seen guys like joe driscoll use one on tv a few times. However I wouldnt use the delays and stuff on the Line 6, hence the humming and hawing over it. The Boss seems like the logical one to go for,and I will try it out,but I suppose I just want to shoot the breeze about them...
I'd be layering guitar parts, and maybe would loop a synth part, but mainly guitar parts..

    barry

I use the akai headrush and it's great. I believe this is what KT Tungstall (spelling?) uses.

I have a headrush too and its great but I'm thinking of picking up the Line 6 DL4 for some longer looping. The sampling time on the headrush isnt long enough.

The second video is probably why I'd prefer the dl6 with its delay features. Its cool that you can add delay for beats when building up your loops. You can see in the second one as well how he uses two dl6's, one for vocals

I've heard great things about the headrush, I'm gonna get one soon.

BTW, GStormcrow, if you're looking to get rid of the headrush let me know. :)

I had the headrush ...great pedal but the loops weren't long enough for me. Depends on what you want it for really.

I've got both a Headrush & the new smaller Boss rc-2. Headrush is lovely but very frustrating coz I find I always need about 2 seconds more looptime than it gives me. Hence I bought the RC-2 which has all the same specs as the RC-20 except it's a single pedal rather than a double (I've never found this a hinderance).. and they are quite cheap :)

not yet had the chance to try them out, but whats the main advantage of the Boss Rc 20 over the RC 2..Id be using it for layering stuff live, such as playing a riff, loop it, and layer another riff on top, then if possible layer over those too. is that possible withthe RC 2.
i hear good things about the RC 2 in general....

how does the RC 2 compare with loop time?? i wouldnt be using a loop over an entire song, but maybe a few bars of riffs, for certain sections....
the tap tempo seems like a good idea...

it's basically the same pedal - all the same specs but just a a single compact chasis. And it has a built in drum machine (which is quite limitted but fine for practice).

I think the RC-20XL can record a loop without immediately playing it back when you stop the loop. Gives a bit extra flexibility for example - record/play a verse [stop] play a chorus - then start the loop you recorded from verse 1 as verse 2 & solo over the top. The RC-20XL can also reverse a loop I think for some freaky sounds.

It depends what you're into, if you just want to loop some chords and layer stuff over the top then the RC2 will do the job. There's some demo's on the Boss website.

essentially, i think i want to just create loops on the fly, probably wouldnt store them.
i hear the headrush will do this well, (i dont need the delay really,i have a decent boss delay already), as will the RC20,
but, i also read the tap/tempo on the headrush is easier to use than the BOSS RC 20.
is it true u have to manually change the tempo on the RC 20 (say,if the drummer slows down/speeds up...)??
and i read that the pedals on the headrush are easier than the boss for nailing a loop in time...????

ill hopefully be trying the RC 20 in the morning anyways.....

I found the opposite to be the case, although my headrush is a good few years old so the may have improved it since I got mine. The Boss has an auto-quantize thinggy that pretty much syncs up your loop nicely. With the headrush you really need to nail it.

There are two versions of the Headrush, the E1 and the E2. I've heard that the E2 is a big improvement.

its the headrush II i should have specified...
all i wonder about the RC 20 is: if im playing and i loop a riff, and i want it to slightly speed up or slow down, can i do it there and then with the extra pedal, and tap in the time/tempo, or do i have to bend down and push a button...?
i guess ill find out tomorrow.
i read that with the headrush, it can be done by tapping on the pedal...this would be handy in a live situation (where i woul duse it)
what turns me off the headrush is i wouldnt use the delays at all id say....
