    Well

I am using handbrake to convert movies to mp4 to put on my ipod touch. Have all the correct settings in handbrake for ipod. Movies are in itunes and can be played there but will not whatever i do download to the ipod. It is really bugging me. I even tried to convert selection within itunes

    Am i missing something ????

    Thanks

Movies can't be larger than 640h x 480w -- i.e., if either is too high, it won't load in.

Also double-check your presets -- my iPod settings are640 x 16 for some reason!

Also, the bitrate could be too high -- max bitrate is 2500kbs for MPEG-4 video, 1500kbs for AVC/h.264 video.

i use handbrake to copy my dvds to my computer at full res. then i use an app called iSquint to convert them down for my ipod. i think iSquint does a better job of ipod conversion than handbrake.. and you dont have to go messing around with settings, its all ready to go

Is your USB port 2.0? I had to upgrade my USB PCI card to get video to transfer (music and pictures worked fine on USB 1.1).

are you sure you have itunes properly set up to sync the videos??

How exactly are you trying to put them onto the iPod ? Have you set the iPod to automatically sync when connected ? If so have you told iTunes to sync movies as well ? What about dragging the movies from iTunes and dropping them on the iPod in the left pane on iTunes. Do you get an error message of any kind ? Is iTunes and Quicktime up to date ?

In my version of Handbrake I can select the iPod Touch as the target device which sets everything for me with no fiddling about - does your version do that ? What about Instant Handbrake instead and try to rip a dvd straight to the iPod just to see if that works.

Another app I use regularly is Popcorn which does a decent job although it's a commercial product.

Visual hub is the payed version of iSquint with more features. If you can get it to play in itunes it will play on your iPod. So, the problem is in itunes. Check that you have the latest version of itunes and your ipod is set up to sync correctly in itunes.

Simplist way is to convert them in iTunes - 'Advanced/convert for ipod/iPhone'

They still will not download when i click convert in itunes. Checked all the settings in itunes and nothing seems to be unusual. I only got the macbook for christmas so i am still learning leopard. I'm probably doing something wrong anyway

    thanks for the help

ok, i now proper think you haven't got them synced properly. when you connect your iPod, go to the "movies" tab. that is where you sync your movies. if you want music videos, add them to the playlist you have synced. for tv shows, connect the iPod and click TV Shows, and select the ones you want to sync. iSquint converts them fine, so it has to be something you are doing with regards to syncing.

I tried what you said about the movies tab but they still won't sync. They will play perfectly in itunes but will not sync to touch

Thanks mate. Sorry for last post. I tried again in itunes and just found out and realised that i didn't have the box ticked to sync movies. It wasn't coming up cause i had not registered the ipod yet
