Hmmm is this required for your job?
If youre just learning, you could pick up a book/ebook, learn from online tutorials etc
If youre going for a job, i.e graphic design? youre going to need a protfolio for sure.

anyway course seems pretty basic, but if the cert is recognised [i personally have not heard of job requiring such] then it would be good. Theres not that many in ireland

TBH you can learn everything you need to know about PS for free online. Online tutorials and Video Podcasts can explain and show you practically everything you need to know.

If you needed to learn something like Action Script then it would be worth doing a course.

Yup, I think you need to see if anyone is looking for it as a requirement if you want to use it to help you get a job. It could be like the MCP is to IT, it's an industry qualification from microsoft rather than an academic one - this could be the adobe equivalent. But I don't know if anyone round here will be able to tell you - maybe the design forum might be more helpful?

If you want to do it for yourself, try doing a bit of self teaching through free tutorials (loads of resources in the digital darkroom forum) before you go paying for anything like that. Depends what skill level you're already at, mind you.

I can tell you that you don't need any kind of certification for Photoshop to work as a professional.

If you know how to use the tools, then there are various magazines that teach you specific skills in photoshop. I find these very entertaining and I am always learning something new. Magazines for graphics teach you more illustrative techniques and mags for photography, all about retouching and improving, etc.

If you really want something from beginning to end, I suggest Lynda.com which has video tutorials in most major applications. I have used these through work and also like them a lot.

A good friend with experience in photoshop is the best and cheapest way to go, of course.

    good luck.
