    Thinking of going to Tampere in Finland in Feb/Mar. Is it any good? How long is long enough for a short break there? Whats's the night life and especially gay night life like there?

    Hiya,
    I lived there for 6 months way back in 1999.Its a smallish friendly city, a few good pubs and clubs, enough to last the weekend.Not sure about the gay scene, as far as I know it didnt have an offcial gay club when I was there but then again 1) that was nearly 10 years ago and 2) I wasnt looking for one. If you do go though pop into the local Oirish pub www.oconnells.fi and say hi to Simon ( a Kildare lad ), he might be able to point you in the right direction or if not there used to be a gay local Hannu that drank there regulary

    hey there,

    Was there last May for two days. There was a gay bar/club near the train station, though it was closed some week days (think open Thursday-Sunday). Just search online and you'll find it.

    More happening in Helsinki. You can get a bus direct from Tampere airport when you get off the flight, and it takes about 2 and a half hours.
