    im thinking of buying a moto x
    alot of ads say the bike has good compression. what is this and how do you check it

    I would think it's to do with the shock absorber on it so if you're off-road you get better comfort and aren't rattled to pieces.

    probably not to do with the shocks. If it's a two stroke they're referring to the engine compression to show it doesn't need new piston rings. If it's a four stroke it means the engine isn't shagged.

    Yes - it refers to the compression in the engine - how worn the piston rings and cylinder head are - you can tell when you kick start it - if it's very easy to turn over then it's worn and will need new rings at a minimum - they are fairly easy to replace though.

    if you wanna properly test an engines compression... buy a compression tester... unscrew the sparkplug... screw it in and open the throtle full and turn the engine 4 revolutions by the elec start..... will give you a figure in psi....
