    Awful pun intended.

So what are your 2008 resolutions as regards photography? Mine include getting up off my arse a bit more and actually getting out and about, and the big one of actually trying to make a few quid.

I've got myself a website and hope to have it up and running by the end of the month. Not quite sure what I hope to achieve with it but what the hell. It's about time I got the finger out.

I've been thinking about this already and torturing myself with all last year's unfinished ones ;)

Must print more - got that transfer paper I was hoping to use to get a shot onto glass...

I want to put together a calendar for next year.

Actually get up and out for sunrise at some point.

Would love to do another wedding, too.

Maybe a 40D will find it's way into my camera bag at some point...

Buy a DSLR, study PS3 book, make more pictures, process them in better way (at least knowing what to do to get close to my pre visualised ones), print a book, sell all books and be more active in photography outings.
And start and finish at least one photography project.
I know, it is a lot, but I have to make some tasks to fulfil. :)

I've gotten very lazy lately so getting out more is a definate.

Another one is trying different types of paper. At the photographic show in Croke Park they had some paper with a pearl effect. Looked very impressive.

One last thing is stopping spending so much money on gear

Go outside more, be more sociable. Perhaps photography will feature there somewhere.

In the new year, hopefully save up for a 1D MkIII, and then start to actually do something with my sports photos. Other than that, just get out more and keep enjoying my photography.

    1. 40D hopefully Feb March
    2. Photographs into Kitesurf or KiteWorld
    3. More boards meets
    4. Another PKRA
    5. Possibly Brazil but that's only under discussion
    6. To be away for NYE next year, hopefully either Tenerife or Bordeaux

Last year was a terrific year for me photographically. Pretty much most of what I wanted to achieve, I achieved, although quite a lot of it I owe to people who have been good enough to take an interest in what I do, and of course, the kite community in Dublin have been massively supportive.

I'm also considering a 50mm lens. It's not something I have felt the need for *yet* but feel that a key thing to do this year is to branch away from my comfort zone of sports, landscapes and travel stuff.

DarrenG, what was that pearl paper? It's just that I seem to be accumulating paper right left and centre...and that sounds good.

1.Boards meetings and lots of them especially during the summer.
2&3. Put in my order for the 5D and 300mm f/2.8L USM before the LOI games start.
    4. Go on a holiday to somewhere obscure.
    5. Spend longer in Norwich and explore the place and take plenty of photos of my second home.

Calina, Bordeaux is an excellent spot. We were there in September for the Rugby World Cup and it's an great place to go to.

I've a soft spot for Bordeaux. After a major personal crisis (read: man problem friend disaster) about 5 years ago I resolved to get out of Ireland for NYE and somehow found myself on an Air France flight to Bordeaux, went to Arcachon while I was there. Next time I want to go to the lighthouse in the mouth of the Gironde whose name escapes me right now.

I want to go back with all the gear I've bought in the meantime, and particularly the 10-20 for that lighthouse. Cordouan. That's what it's called.

    My bad.

I'd like to trade my D50 for something slightly less obsolete with a bigger, brighter viewfinder. That's about it :)

For all those dark and dreary First Division grounds that lie ahead of you. :)

My own is to really get out and about more, trying different things. Really need to get a handle on processing too.

    Happy New Year all!

Be careful, apparently at 4.30pm (Irish time) there were photos of me with flowers in my hair doing the rounds ( and I'm not really that sort of fella).-- See Below

And my resolution:--- To give my alcoholic Aussie brothers in law, the slip and take some photos.:D My liver really needs the break;)

Damn where are those photographs with flowers in your hair?

This is the first year in ages that I've been in Ireland for NYE. It's a bit weird. Last year I was (sick) in Tenerife, the year before Venice. Warm weather on NYE kicks ass, it really does.

Elven, Photobox emailed me with some details about 3 for 2 extended on the old calendars. Hmm.

could be tempted. Could be mega tempted. only thing is I already, via various different means own three photographic calendars by people not me and also one artist's calendar...

    decisions, decisions....

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,966 ✭✭✭elven

Yes I was looking at those photobox ones... quite good too that you can have more than one shot on each page, and you're not limited to portrait or landscape orientation for the whole thing.

Calina I might want to pick your brain about bordeaux at some point too... still need to take that belated honeymoon :)

I reckon that'll probably be a natural progression as the year goes on.

I didn't know you had to be a certain age to enter competitions.

Well, if you look in the Terms & Conditions of most competitions, it says something like

"All entrants must be of 18 years or older"

    actually, here's a good example:

    Eligibility
    • The Competition is open to amateur and professional photographers over 18. Entries will be accepted from both UK and Rep of Ireland (the Entrants) residents. Employees of Adobe and companies and agencies associated with this promotion are not eligible to enter. Members of the judging panel are also ineligible.
