Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hey all,
I was actually wondering, how do the ESB monitor how much power you use? I know they read the meters every now and again, but how exactly do they know you've used, 100euro worth, 200euro etc... and then issue your bill based on it? Do they figure it out by how much power you're draining off the network or some other method?

    Just interested more than anything.

    Thanks :)

Every unit on your meter costs a fixed price depending on the tarriff you're on.

The meter "meters" the amount of usage over the period between the readings.

Estimated readings are calculated on a seasonal basis and assume constant occupancy. They are as accurate as they can be under these circumstances.

    Is that what you're asking?

+ you can just ring them up and give them the exact meter reading from your meter if the estimates seem too high

ah ok, was interested on how they did it. was wondering mainly why the bill fluxuates and isn't a set value until the the meter is read. I assume they adjust your bill accordingly if they've overcharged or undercharged? :P

That answers my question :) was thinking it would be too complicated to try and calculate based on power consumption through the network.
