Im gonna sound a bit stupid but i need some help.
Working in a old folks home for a while now(its partly funded by the HSE)and things are not going well, bullying of staff and management not doing their job.
So im thinking about joing a union, can my boss fire me or am i giving myself further headaches.
    What do you think.
    Thanks

You don't sound stupid... far from it. How long have you been working there? You really need to call IMPACT or SIPTU who will advise you.

OP, something you need to do straight away is get yourself a little notebook and write down every incident (time, place & people involved) you think is inappropriate.

If your situation does go as far as a tribunal it will serve you well if you have this info to hand rather than trying to remember events a year or two down the line.
