Buy warhawk from playstation store. it rocks... You can also download loads of free demos to try before you buy...

After that, I like Call of Duty 4 and Drakes Fortune. But I keep going back to Warhawk...

Even though warhawk lacks in content, it's still a brilliant online game.

Drake's Fortune all the way for single player.

    COD4 for multiplayer.

Call of duty 4 is the best game I have ever played on a console, have quite a few games but COD4 is just amazing, cleared the one player the other day and am so gutted, if they release new levels online il have the credit card out!

+1 for COD4 - stunning graphics. MOH Airborne is also good as is Resistance Fall Of Man.

Uncharted is a fantastic story driven game with excellent characters, primarily based around solid duck and cover gunplay with some great exploring and adventuring attached.

Ratchet & Clank is the best platformer I've played this year, extremely slick and polished with perfect controls and a great sense of humour, if lacking in originality.

Assassin's Creed is probably the most impressive 'next-gen' wow factor of any game I've played, with incredibly well realised cities that you can climb every inch of and explore for hours, which makes the game worth playing even if the actual missions aren't so good.

Heavenly Sword has a brilliant story and characters, aswell as some fantastic set pieces and one particular level where you play as a secondary character which is my favourite single level of any game this year. The 'main' sword fighting gameplay is a bit bland but you spend less than 50% of your time actually doing that as you play through the adventure.

Folklore is unlike any other game I've played, with a very morbid and dark story and the best sound track of any game this year in my opinion. Interesting and original action based gameplay mechanics, though they can get a bit repetitive.

Also, Loco Roco & Super Stardust HD are must buys given their price, brilliant value for two very addictive little games.

And if a PS3 is your only games machine, get Orange Box for it, but if you have a PC the game will go better on that.

CoD4 is over rated in my opinion, especially if you don't play online. It's five hours of extremely pretty shooting gameplay with some really nice set pieces, but no real depth to it.

I'd start with COD4 and Assasins Creed, they've probably make the best use of the PS3's potential so far. I'd definetely get Assasins Creed over Drakes Fortune, and if you have a few mates over Fifa is a laugh.

My games, ranked in order of best to worst.

Uncharted: Drake's Fortune [9/10] Fun adventure game, short but brilliant.
Call of Duty 4 [9/10] Again short but excellent gameplay and story.
Warhawk [8/10] Limited to a few maps but getting better.
Ratchet and Clack: Tools of Destruction [7/10] Polished but nothing new.
Assassin's Creed [7/10] Astonishing graphics and gameplay but gets repetitive.
Motorstorm [7/10] Excellent racing game with fun online play
Resistance: Fall of Man [7/10] Nowhere near Halo 3 but fun nonetheless.
PES 2008 [6/10] Ruined by lack of online [practically] and glitchy framerate.
Heavenly Sword [5/10] Poor man's God of War. Too short also.

Uncharted and COD4 are must buys tbh.

have to disagree with you on heavenly sword otacon, i think its great

tho ive never played god of war and its been a long time since i played that kinda game, so maybe thats why i like it so much

Do yourself a favour and get God of War 2 [if you have a 60GB PS3 that is]. Other than graphics, it far surpasses Heavenly Sword.

HS is too short, gameplay is good but implemented better in GOW, and tbh my expectations were probably too high, but I can't change those now.

ok you got a PS3 for €299. How much did Fifa and the controller cost you?
Add in another game (say drakes as that was the primary game of choice for many bundles) and how much is that?
This €299 was just a gimmick as the pre-sales bundles were only very slightly more expensive

299 for a blu-ray player ,wireless audio/video streaming ,internet access and free movie previews and games isn't bad at all.

Thats only a few euro more than a wii console.

Games from my collection I'd recommend:

Folklore - excellent game, if you can stomach the Oirish setting. Can be a bit repetitive to level up all the folks, but stilla top-notch game.

Uncharted - great game, exceptional story and characters. Does nothing new, but what it does do is very polished.

Conan - great fun hack and slash. Basically an unpolished version of God of War. Get it cheap in sales/secondhand. Fun, but not worth full price.

Assassin's Creed. Probably my game of the year.

There's more, but those would be my top four (unordered) recommendations.

man i know that but everyone was raving about the saving lately. I just think that but compared to pre-sales bundles, there is not much of a saving

It all depends what you're after but here's how I'd rank my games.

1st: COD4 - Best game I've ever played on a console. Brings back the excitement you had when you played Goldeneye for the first time.

2nd: Oblivion - Had it ages, still not tired of it which is a rare thing when it comes to PS3 games. Mightn't be your thing, it's very RPG.

3rd: Fifa - A must if you're any way into soccer or have a few mates round. Great fun.

4th: Rainbow Six Las Vegas - Amazing when it came out first, great graphics and great gameplay. Still holds its own.

5th: Assasins Creed Nice break from FPSs, incredible graphics. The free-running is unbelievable to watch and makes up for the repetitive missions.

6th: Uncharted Another departure from the conventional first-person shooters, pretty decent gameplay and a great storyline. Graphics don't break any ground but it's enjoyable.

7th: Call of Duty 3 Looks pretty dated compared to COD 4 but a decent WW2 shooter. A fair amount of six-axis usage, you'll love it or hate it.

8th: Resistance Fall of Man A release-game, so it kinda shows its age. Nice game though, the two player co-op is good fun.

9th: Ridge Racer 7 Racing games really aren't my thing. Good for some mindless entertainment.

Got €75 in square vouchers & €80 in gamestop vouchers so it didnt cost me anything & i still have €50 odd in vouchers to put towards another game.

Also bought 46" 1080p LCD (3 HDMI connections) so im looking forward to playing a game on standard setup & then with HDMI cable to see if theres much differance.

Torn between Drakes Fortune, COD 4 & Assasin creed

    decisions, decisions, decisions :D

If you like skateboarding and open free-form games... you could do far worse then Skate. We squeezed dozens of hours out of it and loved the party gaming competitions in it too!

One of those games I would gladly pay the price of again if time was reversed...

Another is Lego Star Wars, the 6 episode re-release. Absolutely class. Tons of content and play (not to mention replay value!). Loads of Lego gags that are always enjoyable and a well executed game (with multiplay being a hooot too!)

    DeV.

I started playing it today ,online is not the greatest. Very clunky.
    It was worth 27.99 though.

Videogamesplus.ca is where I'll probably buy my next game.
