    Hello.

My sister has a Creative Zen Microphoto and when it is connected to the computer via USB I can hear the Windows XP "usb connected" sound, but it isn't being recognised either by the software, or as an external drive.

Does anyone know why this would happen?

Is there a reset button on these things? The manual is missing.

Thanks for all of your help.

on the official creative website there is an option to format the player anf update its firmware, but you will loose your music.

this may be worth a try or maybe re-install the software may help.

i think you can reset the playerby pressing a certain button combo,it may not format the player,im not sure,if you plug player into pc ,you may be able to copy the music ,using mouse to a folder.

it'll be a bit difficult to update the FW if the zmp isn't being detected ;)

Try downloading the windows drivers...should be on the creative site under support.

Did it work on that PC before? Sounds to me like the problem is the MTP drivers on the PC. Your sisters machine may not be configured properly to recognise MTP devices. The Creative knowledgebase on their site should have more info.

It has only ever been used on the pc it is now not working on.

I'll try downloading updated drivers so.

    Thanks people.

    to access the recover menu:
    1. take out the battery
    2. hold the power button to the on position
    3. reinsert the battery while holding power button.

that should work! from there you can reset the firmware and format the player.
