Irish men pussywhipped?

I got back some months ago from a couple of years living in Africa and when I returned I noticed something I'd never noticed before. A great many of our womenfolk had, it seemed in my absence, turned into mannish opinionated harridans who entirely rule over their menfolk and give little by way of return. Does the forum think it unseemly of me to be thinking in such a way or is there some sympathy for this pont of view?

Far worse than that I haven't come across any I could even put up with for long enough to do the deed. Which in fairness wouldn't be long at all.

An Irish man and not even interested in Yore Ma's?

    Lies.

It seems strange that we Women could manage to have such a strong hold over Men, what with all our inferior brains and all our effort going in to making babies and stuff. Surely you could invent something to put us back in our place?

Perhaps OP could elaborate on some scenes of pussywhipping he has spotted so that we can rise to the standards held by African men?

While I don't necessarily agree with the OP, I see from his profile that he's in Wexford and my experience of wexford women have been that they like to wear the trousers in a relationship (i even know 2 lesbians from wexford and they're both butch).
I reckon this "femacho-ness" amongst the wimmen down there is something to do with the french (seeing as the boats come into rosslare).

Then again, I like to blame a lot of things on the french.....it's a policy that has served me well !

And you're only noticing this now?!?

One friend of mine sold up his very prosperous business on the northside after the missus nagged away at him for years to move southside so she could be close to her mammy. Both are in their early 40's, childless, herself doesn't work and mammy (and her daddy) are perfectly fit and well.

The missus of another friend of mine puts their kid in a very expensive creche, yet she doesn't work herself and spends most of the day shopping and doing Pilates.

We're a weak, spineless lot us Irish men. Now fetch me a beer...please!

Meh. This is normal in developed, female-centric consumer economies - in our terms post-Celtic Tiger times. The symbiosis between men and women generally diminishes, certain laws are put in place and certain types of new mating practices emerge (i.e. promiscuity over monogamy). I agree with you about the existence of this phenomenon - it is however entirely to be expected. You are correct in observing that after the boom attitudes between men and women change with a new stereotype of emasculated men and entitled women.

Yep, this is called passive dominance. Not that you are right about "inferior brains" mind you.

And I don't think the OP mentioned anything about putting anyone "back in their place" but rather was commenting on a lack of basic courtesy.

He provides a reasonable rebuttal and yet the non-engaging shaming language continues. What's the problem?

Some things will be heresy to observe or state in any society - perhaps this is one of them?

I think the best one has to be the friend who isn't allowed to smoke or wear shoes in the house he paid for. Lots of them in relationships also seem to have to ask permission to go anywhere/do anything. Of course they act all sulky when refused permission but totally fail to assert themselves. I know if I showed my African friends the situation they would hurt themselves laughing.

If you let a wimmins take charge then she will take charge. However if you take charge from the off she will quite happily falls into lines and likes it as it is their natural place in the order of things.

Wimmins likes it when a man is in charge. Any cases to the contrary are because the man hasn't stood up to the plate or less frequently because the wimmins is a closet lesbian

I heard somewhere that Norweigan lesbians have the highest suicide rate in the world. Such a waste. They can all come around my house - we'll have a great time......

I lol'ed when I saw this thread, because this very morning, my housemate rang her ex who lives 70 miles away to drive here and bring her to the doctor. She didnt ask any of us, or even her mother who lives nearby. He duly did so and has now taken the next few days off work to look after her (she has a muscle spasm). He bought her an iPod and a digital camera for christmas. Totally whipped...

That's shocking behaviour....he's obviously either very young and one of those metro-sexual males we hear about or else she's dynamite in the sack and she got the muscle spasm engaging in the bold thing with him.

Either way, I hope she gives him his balls back soon !

Young! I think not, he's in his late 30's. So far today he's gone to the shop twice to get food for her and now he's gone to XtraVision to get a DVD for her. Some girly sh!t too I'd imagine. Poor guy, I hope he opens his eyes soon.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,699 ✭✭✭Santa Claus

Well if he's not young then i refer you to the 2nd part of my theory !

He probably still loves her. Not his fault he can't get over someone.

I was born in South America and grew up in the US so from the point of view of an outsider I have to agree totally with SubjectSean.

The pussywhipping seems to start at a very young age too. I work in retail and I see boys of 15/16 having their clothes chosen for them by their mothers. Very rarely would that happen with a girl of the same age. Then as soon as they have their first girlfriend the cycle starts again.

Just yesterday a mid-20s guy came in and tried on a t-shirt. He called his girlfriend and they agreed to meet for coffee. About an hour later he came back into the store with his girlfriend and tried on the t-shirt again. She completely vetoed that t-shirt and a few others that he tried on. However, just as they were about to leave she spotted a top that she liked so she tried it on. When they came to the till she had two tops for herself and guess who paid for it with his credit card?

Her ex? An example of idiocy if ever there was one.

Women are always right so if they argued back they would only lose. :)

I don't know why some people feel the need to exert such control over their partners, I like my men to be dominate and decisive creatures. But all women nag to a certain extent so some men just prefer an easy life and do what their partner's want. I don't think thats really an Irish thing, ive noticed that alot of other European women are the same.
