Can anybody direct me as to where I can get the best price on a mac book, but still customise it for more memory and storage. The best price I can find is the education store on apple.com. Also, can you get the education store price in the apple shop in Dublin?

You can only get a mac built-to-order from the online Applestore. Same with the edu discount afaik.

Tbh you're not likely to find a better price elsewhere either except maybe ebay.

I thought as much. I still can't choose between a mac book and macbook pro. It's alot of extra cash. Is it really worth it?

It depends on what you're using it for really.

I'll be using it for audio recording and editing. Not massive multitrack stuff but I will be using pro tools. Would a well specd mac book (2gb ram, 160gb hd, 2.2ghz dual core) be capable? Would the basic mac book pro be much better?

Is there any way I can order one in the US to be delivered to a US home address from here. Thing is a friend of mine is coming back from the states with her husband in a few weeks time so instead of paying €400+ extra for it, I can get them to bring it over.

    No, that isn't possible.

To order online, you need to access the correct online shop and pay using a debit/credit card addressed for that relevant country; ie to order from the US, it needs to be from the US online shop to an US address using a US credit card. You could get your friend to pay for it and you fix them up but you are then looking to ask them to ILLEGALLY import the MB.

See the thread on top of the page for more details, it has been discussed here a lot so don't feel like we are popping your balloon on you :)

Ah no worries, I'll get them to pick it up and fix em up when they come over. Would've been easier if I had it sorted with my credit card.

Dont buy a macbook yet, Macworld is on in 2 weeks and apparantly theres new macbooks coming along, you might get a great deal on the old ones or get a nicely spec-bumped machine
