Anyone know where the cheapest place to buy coal is? The local garages here sell Black Diamond 20KG, the orange bag for €12 a pop, and another garage sell the blue bag for €11 for 20KG. Not sure if there is a difference between the two, the orange bag seems to last longer, can't be too sure though.

Anyway, If anyone knows if this is good value or if I can get it much cheaper somewhere else, please let me know :)

we're lucky that we have room to store it, we got 21 bags (40kg) for 265euro at the local co-op, and they delivered it, but we do live in the countryside...

    Thanks for the info!

So that's 31c per Kilo if my calculations are right, which = €6.30 for 20KG, compared to the €11 or €12 I'm paying for 20kg which is pretty good. Is that the minimum order you can get off them do you know?

    What's the coal like?

Co-op sometimes does 5 bags of coal for the price of 4 bags.

Right but its illegal to burn "coal" in Dublin. You can only burn anthracite or smokeless coal.
If he burns your country coal he will be breaking the law.

Is it not illegal to buy smokey coal in Dublin? They can't really tell you what you can and can't burn. Banning the sale of it stopped people from burning it.

You can get coal at the petrol station in the Scalp beside the ski slope, can't remember the name of the hotel. Also you can get some at the petrol station where the road to Enniskerry splits. Don't know the price off had but cheap enough. I don't have a fire myself but a mate gets some.

It is not "illegal" to burn smoky coal in Dublin, it is illegal to sell it.
